Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi are two small islands in the Andaman Sea in Krabi’s province. Phi Phi Islands are composed of Phi Phi Dom which is the principal island and Phi Phi Ley which is the smallest but the most famous one even if it is uninhabited.

Koh Phi Phi is located at 45 km East of Phuket so it takes 2h30 by boat. It is the largest island of this archipelago. The island’s two bays are cut which gives it that original look. Although it was very affected by the tsunami during the year 2004, there remains no trace nowadays, everything were rebuilt very quickly to accommodate tourists. The island is well-known for its white sands beach, but also because the Hollywood movie “the Beach” with the famous actors Leonardo Di Caprio, Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard, was filmed in Phi Phi Ley, on the greatly famous beach of Mayabay. It is one of the best spots for diving in Phuket. This limestone island looks like paradise with a good visibility between 7m and 25m and the depth varies from 5 to 30 meters. Low currents allow an easy observation of turtles, leopard sharks as well as black tip sharks. However there is a lot of tourism in the island.
